Does AI only give praise?

 Does AI only give praise?

A friend on Forum Promotion posted a thread asking AI to describe you in one sentence. Mine came back with: You’re a highly creative, detail-oriented digital creator who loves designing logos and graphics, experimenting with image transformations, and refining visuals until they look polished and professional.

Another friend posted his and brought up the theory that AI won't say negative things to you. There was more to the theory, but it got me thinking that I doubt AI would give actual critique unless I asked for it, and even then it would be constructive criticism and not true negativity.

What are your thoughts?

  1. Well, everything depends on what you have been doing on ChatGPT that it's going to narrow into and describe you as a person.

If you want AI to not sound nice all the time, start asking questions about depression and self half all of the time. After a while, ask it to describe you, the tone is going to be different.

  2. Interesting thought! I do feel AI tends to lean toward being encouraging by default, probably to keep conversations positive and helpful. At the same time, when you specifically ask for critique, it usually gives constructive feedback rather than blunt negativity. It’s like having a supportive reviewer instead of a harsh critic. Makes me wonder how different responses would be if people asked AI for honest flaws instead. 🤔
